Going Carbed SBC: Main harness/Computer harness delete question
Ok we put power to the battery with the computer and harness not hooked up, we had nothing as for power except one light worked. I want to be able to retain the power windows, locks, radio and such. How do I do this without havig to have the computer hooked up?

well first remove the computer and all its crap so its out of the way. then just make sure you got power to all the fuses and relays going to that stuff and its should still work.

Thanks but that doesnt really help. Im not using the fuel system or anything so thats not my concern. Cranking, Lights, and Interior operation is my concern.

It should help. If you're not using the factory fuel system, just pull that fuse and this way you can use your fuel system. If it's run off your ignition, then there you go. It would be better to use your fuel pressure switch (the factory designed it this way) to energize a relay to turn your fuel pump on, but then your fuel system would never come on because you need fuel pressure to start the car to get oil pressure. So, factory engineers found a solution to that problem. Your fuel pump comes on and primes the system at start-up and then the fuel pressure switch keeps it running. This is one of the reasons why I recommend you keep all your harness in tact and use the factory set up wiring. You could use the factory wiring to run your aftermarket fuel pump and get the best of both worlds. Or, if you want to install your own wires in race car fashion then use the factory wire to activate the relay your fuel system sources its power from.
Just don't cut any wires. Unplug the things you don't need. The article I referred to talked about "cranking". I know it's a lot to read, but I still recommend that you do.
I thought it applied, but perhaps this is not what you're looking for. I guess as pointed out by some in the post I referred to, you can always just start snipping away and run everything from the battery with a lot of aftermarket relays and switches.
Just trying to help. My carb conversion was done the way I suggest and EVERYTHING works.
I still recommend you read that post in detail- it will clear alot of this up.
