I noticed my passenger side speaker was not working so while replacing my passenger side window motor, which also doesn't work, I thought I'd replace the speaker as well. From what I've read people are saying you can't just replace the speaker since it's paired with the amp. I went ahead and replaced just the speaker with a JVC speaker I got on sale for $19.99.

I connected the amp wire's to the speaker and tested it out and it seems to work perfectly fine like this...in fact it sounds better, at least the highs. Will I do any harm to the system by doing this? No one seems to suggest doing this in any of the searches I've done. I'm wondering if I can just go through and just replace the speakers in the rest of the system to make it sound better, most likely won't but just curious in case any of the other speakers die. Bose seems to be expensive for replacement and I'd rather not rewire the whole car to update the speakers.

Have you compared the "specs" of the two different brands of speakers? Why don't you believe what you've read?
