Angry Beware: SIMPLE GREEN will take your engine bay paint off!

I was using some simple green and a brush to clean up the firewall and related areas, and I noticed the suds turning kinda greenish. Rinsed off and the paint was gone!!!

The Engine Degreaser stuff I used didn't seem to do this though.

Just be careful with it

Odd, I've used simple green for years and never had any issues.

Did you scrub with it though? Or just spray on-hose off...

I noticed it doing it to my radiator upper support too...

Sure I scrub. Are you diluting it? 20 of water:1 simple green is plenty of cleaning power. That stuff's insane. Use it all over the engine bay, and on all my R/C stuff.

I spray it on full strength and just rince it off with the high-pressure nozzle... never had any issues..

Been doing it for years...

Diluting...oh yeah...

Uh...1:1 Simple Green to Simple Green.

I guess if you use it straight up and scrub paint comes off.

I use straight simple green on my engine, wheels

But then again, I don't give 2 ****s about my wheels.

I don't do the engine bay paint w/simple green, I usually go over that with 303 aerospace protectant or something.

Never had it take the paint off of anything that I have cleaned and I most always spray it full strength. Dave is just lucky.

Simple Green is friggin harsh man. But sometimes you get lucky, other times you don't. Dilute it next time and it should be ok

Castrol Superclean works the best. That stuff WILL eat paint if you leave it sit long enough.
