Air Bag Clock spring?

Air Bag Clock spring?

Has any one changed the ones on their 4th gens? Pretty simple?

I removed mine when I installed a Grant wheel. After pulling the wheel, I believe there was a spring clip that retained the SIR coil on the shaft. The hard part is pulling the harness and the big yellow connector up through the steering column.

That was the part I'm not looking forward to, the little I read in the factory servoce manual said that connector should be installed with no slack

Lightbulb Try tying a piece of string to the old one's end.

It makes turn signal switch replacements easier.

Of course, if worse comes to worse, the old Saginaw columns are fairly easy to work on - w/ the help of a few special tools sold at most parts stores.

Newer ones - ? I never got in to them as they were just coming out as I was leaving the bidness of repairing them.

Really cool write up here - linky but it does not cover the air bag spring.
