98+ parking brake adjustment at shoes
Backround: I am swapping to LS1 rear brakes because my existing setup was just about used up. Both rear calipers leaked, pads are done and I got all the use out of the rotors that I was going to get. That said, I got all hardware for free from a donner car to include calipers, abutment plates, brackets, parking brake cables, etc. I then picked up a set of rear slotted and vented rotors with ceramic pads. This setup will look good along side the same setup on my LS1 fronts...moving on.
Problem: I refurbished the abutment plates and put new parking brake shoes on them. I removed the adjuster drums and cleaned/greased them and reinstalled them. When I put the new shoes on the abutment plates I simply zeroed out the adjustment wheel, slid the shoes on and buttoned them down. I then took a new rotor and slid it down over-top the assembly to make sure it cleared, it did. Is this correct? I would like to make sure I have the adjustment correct to take advantage of this new, more efficient parking brake setup.
Any feedback will be great!
Thanks, Charlie

Here's a link to the 1998 factory shop manual, which will cover the parking brake adjustment, if you can find it in the thousands of pages.......

Hey Fred,
Thanks for the link, I have downloaded them and am now in the process of canvassing the material. It is only a matter of time now!
Thanks again, Charlie
