29 inch Tire:What do you have to do to run them?

What trimming or adjustments do you have to do? Any links to a writeup?

Let's assume he's talking about a 29" slick

You can't fit a 29" tire on a 4th Gen without serious body work. And unless you are putting down well over 1,000HP you really shouldn't need them. I've seen a very heavy 4th Gen, with "stock style" supsension run 9.0/155 with a 28" tire.

I ran Hoosier QTP 28x11.5-15's and all I had to do was move the axle back about 1/4" to keep the tire from expanding and hitting the sheet metal at the front of the fender opening when the trap speeds went over 125mph. I just switched to ET Drag 28x10.5-15W's and I had to take at least 1" off the leading edge of the rubber bumper cover. Apparently the ET Drags are a bit over an actual 28" diameter.

A buddy of mine put 29.5's on his 30th SS, and it took extensive body work both to the fender and the inner fender. Even then, on the dyno when the speed went over about 160mph, the tires grew enough that they had to call the guy from the body shop to come back with his Sawz-all. It wasn't pretty. But that's on a car that is making well over 1,000rwHP, and should be running maybe 8.40@165mph.

Bodywork for 29.5's

After some more hacking, but before "finishing"

Basically we are goin to try a 29 because we have one in hand already and I just sprayed my car and I ran out of gear with the 28s, so before I slap a 3.55 in it.

I think it would be a lot easier and less expensive to gear it down a bit it would accomplish the same thing. My buick runs 9's with 28 inch tires,I ran out of gear with 4.56's and droped em for a 4.10.It accomplished the goal nicely.
