removing reluctor ring ??..

Re: removing reluctor ring ??..
It's very fragile, and it's not unusual to damage it when removing it. The factory manual recommends removing it with a brass hammer, and not reusing it.
I've never removed one, but I know you can reinstall by placing the reluctor gear on top of the ring gear, then using 4 bolts through the ring gear to pull the reluctor gear over the flange on the diff. Is it possible that the reluctor gear will only move (for removal) in one direction - i.e. toward the ring gear?

If you're talking about the reluctor ring on the carrier,I've removed and installed many(without breaking). It will come off in either direction, but if ring gear in still mounted,it has to go off in the other direction.
Tap off with a hammer lightly in circular steps, eventually you see it begin to move. They are fragile and break easily. They're harder to install than to remove. Installing them requires that it be perfectly sitting on at the start and I use bolts, nuts, and washers thru the ring gear mounting holes to draw it on.
