Shifting at what RPMs?

I have a 2000 Camaro SS, M6, stock. Would you and what RPMs do you shift at, where you do not have to use the clutch?
About 5000.....5500?

How do you know what number in production your camaro ss is.
I'm very interested in knowing how to figure it out, I asked in another post and have not got a reply yet.

I don't think that shifting without clutching is the best for the tranny (esp. synchros ).....not saying I've never shifted without a clutch, but as a rule, I wouldn't recommend doing it over ~3500 rpm or so. By ~5000 rpm, that's quite a lot of load to be putting on the shifter and synchros IMO.

"alteregoss2000", I think you have to contact SLP and give them your VIN and they tell you what build # your car is. Obviously I don't have an SS, so I don't know for sure, but that's what I've read.

Alteregoss2000 - Yes, you do contact SLP, give them your VIN # and ask for your build # and ask them for any other information they can tell you about your car, like the dates they had it and what options were installed, and they may be able to answer any other questions you have about your SS.

Capn Pete - Thanks for your feedback....the guys I go racing with said that in older trannys, there was a certain point in RPMs where the clutch wasn't needed to shift with their stock trannys and I was curious if mine could do that as well. Thanks again!
