Exclamation Help with 94Z28 wiring/question?!

Ok, I finally got around to replacing my stock speakers with some better ones, so I popped off the door panels, replaced the drivers side one and it works great, the passenger side one has always popped since I got it, so I stuck the new one in and its doing it again, popping and crackling all the time, I know its not the speaker because I swapped the drivers side in and it does the same thing.

So, my question is:

Can I simply run new wire to the back of the deck and splice it in, and also is it a light yellow and red wire all the way back into the deck?

I think that covers it, I just dont wanna mess something up!

Thanks!

I am guessing you have a Bose system as the front right wire is actually light green/dark green on a standard Camaro without Bose.

I have a few questions so the problem can be fixed:

Bose or standard?
Factory head unit or aftermarket?
If Bose, are factory amps still in place?

With those answers, I can give you a resolution to your problem.

It's a bose deck and I'm using it for now. Also, Right now the factory amps are still in place.

Another curious thing is, I have the factory sub, yet when I pulled the grilles off the sail panels the holes were covered with a dark grey rubbery thing.. LOL, thats the best description I can come up with.

If I wanted to wire in the rear speakers, how would I go about doing that? Im pretty good with wiring etc, but since most of what Ive done has been on totally aftermarket systems without any stock crap this is different.

Thanks for the quick reply!

OK. Since you have a Bose deck, you can't just simply run a wire from your door to the radio. The Bose is a "dead head" so there is not enough power built into it to make it sound right. Most of the Bose systems were 3 speaker systems like yours. However, some of them came with a 5 speaker system that actually put speakers in the sail panels. Seems that all 94's had the 3 speakers except for maybe a select few. Also seems a lot of the 95's had 5 speakers.

Your best bet is to just replace the amp in the passenger side door as it is probably bad. Just pull the black plastic piece out that your speaker goes in and remove the amp and replace it.

Well damn, guess Ill be going deck shopping sooner than I figured!

So is it not possible at all to run rear speakers with the Bose?

LOL, while I was waiting for a response on what to do about the front speaker I pulled all the panels needed to run the wiring so the car is a little bit more lightweight right now!

Thank you for the help!

Yes, you can do rear speakers in a Bose system. The correct way to do it is to get the rear sub setup that has the outputs for the rear speakers. Otherwise, you can run 2 aftermarket speakers off of your front Bose amp.
