Angry exhaust hanger at end of trans. wont fit !!

I'm bout done with the single cat conversion on my 96. I've got the macs with y-pipe, off-road pipe and thundracing s-pipe. The hanger of the tailshaft is bout 2-3 inches away from the bolt holes in the o/r pipe. Do I need to get a 95 style hanger or what? Also, this s-pipe is supposed to bolt right up right? Well, its about 2 feet too long, i'll just have to cut the factory I-pipe to get it to work looks like but I paid 75 or so bucks for this thing and I feel it should "bolt right up" like its supposed to. One more thing, it appears that this y-pipe is gonna hang way low, i hav'nt snugged everthing up yet, but it looks awful low to me. The lowest point on my car now is the BMR d/s loop, and it looks like its gonna be lower than that!! anyway thanks, Chris.

I had a problem with this when I installed my Random Technology Y pipe. I don't know how crucial the hanger is. I managed to use it with some 'convincing', but mine wasn't any kind of 3 inch gap. It may be why yours hangs so low.

You don't need the hanger. One of mine broke off and I never replaced it. No problems so far.

Do not worry about a missing exhaust hanger. I installed Hooker LT's and a Mufflex Y-pipe without an exhaust hanger about five months ago and have had no problems. You went from a dual cat y-pipe to a single y-pipe, some differences should be expected.

The only danger of not using the hanger is a possible vibration that could cause a crack at the flange or a severe vibration could cause a knock... but if your other hangers are on, knock isn't likely unless it rocks against the body.

No hanger here and I haven't had any problems for about the last year my headers have been on.
