What is the best way to dry a car right after washing it. I was using a turtle wax drying thing but it seems to leave like a soapy residue behind. Should i get a Real Chamois that cost damn near 15 dollars or would a good towel do the trick?

I use an electric leaf blower to remove all the excess water and 100% cotton towels to gently complete the drying.

Another vote for the Toro. Makes it quick and easy and no spots or trapped water... like in the lights or grille.

Not sure if this is "the best" but it works great for me....and that is the Absorber and Microfiber towels. You can get great quality MF at www.microfibertech.com or www.dftowel.com . For drying you need waffle weave MF....not the regular towels. I use a waffle for any residual microscopic dropplets and the regular MF towels for removing wax and polish. Works great, NO SWIRLS!

What do you guys think about driving the car around the block once before drying, just to get a good portion of the water out of the seams first? I then use a few large, serged bath towels to finish off the drying. Good idea or bad? I don't own a leaf blower.

TG, the only problem with that is the back of these cars collect a lot of dust and dirt, you do not want to be wiping water and dirt off the car after driving it.

Me too.
California Water blade kicks ***. I go and get the little bits that are left over in the corners and under the spoiler with a towel.

I used to use a shammy. Last week I went over to my buddies and he dried his f-body with a leaf blower. Yesterday I went out and bought me the Toro leaf blower. Fast dry and light weight too.

I like the leaf blower idea, that's how my dad has always dried his riding lawn mower (he washes it off after each use if it needs it), six years old and it still looks/runs like new.

Or you can just do the ghetto setup. Go to Mcdonald's, get a straw and huff and puff until you blow the car dry...okay that was stupid I'll stop.

The water blade works best but i'm always finding some dirt or debris that falls from the trees (or maybe dirt that splashes up from the ground when I'm hosing it down) and am afraid of scraping it into the paint. IT does sound like a squealing pig, too.
