My New Wheels

Hey guys,

Finally got my new wheels and tires mounted last night so thought I would throw up a couple of pics to see what you think?

I got the rims (97 C5 wheels 17's/18's) off Ebay for $285.00 and wrapped them with new KUMHO 712's....245/45/17 front and 275/35/18 in the Rear. I really wanted to get some Boyd Shysters, but I couldn't justify the fundage.

Looking for honest opinions and other ideas for improvement...
Obviously, the car screams to be lowered, and I am thinking about possibly a billet grille (red?) and some type of red striping, something slightly unusual.

Thanks....

Thanks....I am planning on hanging out with you guys this summer....They have a great cruise in (250 cars +) in Lambertville, MI Off Secor a couple miles north of the MI border...it takes place every fourth Thursday. We will have to meet up there sometime.

As for the tires....I got them at Tirerack.com ($96 front, $170 rear)and then had them mounted at Tom's tire in Toledo ($68.00)...I called all over the place and noone had a 275/35/18 in a KUMHO, so I had no choice but to order them online. I think Tireman had some decent prices on the 712's.

Later,

Aaron

Hey Aaron, it's me Paul from Toledo. Man I work @ Tireman and could've got A STEAL on Kumhos. Man if I only knew... I like your wheels also. I got some new 18s now, C5 Chromes. Also I just put on some Dynatech longtube headers! E-mail me, let me know more.

Better Yet I could've gotten you some Michlelin Pilot Sports for that price! I got my 275/35/ZR18s for only $156 on sale!

What size wheels are you getting? Like I said, there's a killer sale going on Michlein Pilot Sports on Size 345/30/19 and 275/35/18 (Viper Tires).... Had to get me a set. They are regularly $315 in our inventory, but got them for only $156 per tire... They are much than Kumho's. But Kumhos are good tires for the price.

I spent $899 for a set of 18"x9.5" Y2K C5s

And about $699 for the set of Michelins, they're the best.

Are you coming to Tireman for the Kumhos? We are about the only ones to have them in stock. Let me know.

Man, if I could I'd help everyone! Heading to Norwalk friday April the 11th from 6 to 11PM, I hope to see some of you locals out there.

Tires make a big difference in ride quality and handling characteristics. I don't know what it is, but I have to have the best in tires and prefer Michelin Pilot Sports over BFG G-Force and over Goodyear F1s, I've had a set of each on my cars and have to say I like to Michelins by far. Next will be some drag radials for the track ;)

So far I have a fun filled Spring, how 'bout you guys?

Holy cow that's an awesome deal for those rims. My question is, did you have you modify the rear wheels at all so they fit over the hub? I've heard that people have to grid a little bit of the rim so they fit over the hub. Thanks.

ZPaul2Fresh8
03-27-2003, 03:11 PM
No, they fit right on with no problems, Got them off eBay, but now they have raised the price to $949.00

Good deal I think.

Paul....I think you are stealing my post Man.....

I think he was referring to the wheels that I have....And yes I did have to grind away a small amount of material on the rear wheels around the hub. I used a dremel and slowly removed a little at a time until it was a snug fit.

YES! I work tomorrow CamaroSHO, by the way I'll be taking the Z to work tomorrow, hope to see you there!

Just finished up my header installation! Long tubes rock!

Oh our hours Saturday are 8-3pm and we're next to the woodville mall, but don't get us mixed up with Tom's Tire which is behind the mall.

Paul, since you work at Tire Man, I would really like to know if you guys have the equipment to do an alignment on smooth lipped wheels. The ones where there is no lip on the edge of the rim and the tire itself. I have not been able to find anywhere in town that can do this. If you guys can do it, I'll be up there at the drop of a hat.

ZPaul2Fresh8

You're in luck. If you look at my profile, you're find that I'm an alignment tech @ Tireman. I can do those wheels...infact I do them all the time. Even on my 18's on my Z.

Just come in on Monday in the morning if possible and you'll get right in.

I have a $35,000.00 machine....yea we have the equipment. When do you plan on coming in? I work @ the Woodville location by the Mall, but don't get us mixed up with Tom's Tire behind the mall....

peace.

Man, I missed your post over the weekend (very busy). I would probably be able to make it out there for an extended lunch hour, but as soon as I have any free-time, I'm coming out there. Do you happen to work on Saturday?

ZPaul2Fresh8
03-31-2003, 11:37 AM
Yes, I work on saturdays from 8-3pm, the only days I don't work are Sundays and Wednesdays. Hope to see you soon...

By the way, going to Norwalk on Friday April 11th, anyone else interested in going? 6-11pm $10 to race and/or watch.

Ok, sounds good. How long do you need the car. Saturday is looking busy, but I really want to get out there, so it may have to be during the week. I'd also probably like to have the wheels balanced while I'm at it.

ZPaul2Fresh8
03-31-2003, 02:00 PM
Ok, great. Just bring it in. It would take me about 30 minutes to align your car depending on how bad it is. And your more than welcome to watch if you wanna learn a few things.

Also balancing is 8.50 per wheel, but I only do alignments so I couldn't tell ya how long balancing would take, depends on how busy we are. (That's why I say come in early.)

Oh yeah, I wanna talk to you about some of the mods you got also, I'll be buying a few come here soon.

If you'd like I can make an appointment so you get in right away, let me know.

-Paul

Sorry Paul, Saturday turned out to be very busy and I didn't get freed up until about 1pm. This Saturday is looking about the same. If between 1-1:30pm isn't too late, I could do that, but I know you guys close at 3pm. E-mail me your direct number and I will call you and setup a time for sure.

And now that I look at it, the next weekend is Easter (yikes). How did I ever get so busy. :(
