what the hell is this thing

its a semi circle black thing. about 6" long, on the passside side right behind the horn, seem to only have a single vac line running out of it.. and thats it..

It is the vacuum tank for the HVAC system. It provides reserve vacuum to operate the mode controls during periods of low vacuum.

awesome, thanks.. that makes perfect sense. the vac line that runs to it, is it supposed to be in the head light harness or? cause its MIA

yup..it suppose to be in there..it probably got messed up by the battery acid and just broke.

Mine got chewed up just in front of the battery where it comes out of the tubing. It was rubbing on the metal edge there. Of course, I made it where that cannot happen any more.

I installed a new vacuum line from the check valve to there.
