How high will the bottle pressure get when it is hot out?

We had our first warm day (~65) since I got my TNT kit on and when I got out to my car I was suprised to see the pressure at almost 1500 psi. This worries me about what is going to happen in the summer heat. If it is 90 or 95 out side, then the inside of the car will be even hotter. Is this so hot that my blow off cap will pop? Also, what pressure is it set to burst at? What do you guys do about your bottle pressure when it gets hot?

BTW after about 1 or 2 minutes of driving with the windows down the pressure was back to ~1000.

your blow off valve on the bottle is set at 3000 psi. this is why the IHRA/NHRA rules require a blow down tube. it's possible for the pressure to get that high and the valve is used as a saftey precaution.

it's not going to explode or anything, but if the psi gets high, it'll start "poofing" little puffs of gas out. if you dont have a blow down tube, it will just fill your car up with n2o. then you go to open the door and you get a good wiff of speed

if youve got the tube, the gas simply exits through the tube and outside of the vehicle. you shouldnt see 3000 psi very often but it can happen.

if you had the car parked in the sun on that 65* day, it could very well have been 80+ in the car, thus the high psi. the most ive ever seen a bottle at was on a 80+* day where the psi got up to about 2,400. if you're concerned (and theres really no reason to be) you can keep your windows cracked on those scorching days and possibly even think about relocating your bottle.

like i said, if you get the tube, then you'll be set as far as saftey goes. the only negative spin then would be if you left it directly in the sun on a blazing day (90-100*) for several hours, and the psi reached 3000, you would just lose alot of n2o, or $$.

My bottle is in between the back seats. It is also black (TNT). I'm sure that doesn't help. I am not worried about it blowing up, I have a blow down tube that exits my car, I was more worried about losing a full bottle of N2o (poor college kids cant afford that ). I was also wondering how long I should plan on waiting to get the pressure down to where I can use it.

I may get a sunshade for the windshield, and even put my shades in the t-tops. I can also leave the window cracked when it is really hot. I just wanted to make sure that I wasn't going to have to take the bottle out any time it gets hot out.

Thanks
Dustin

Thanks
Dustin

I intentionally throw my bottle in the shower and let its get a dose of hot water for about 10-15 minutes to bring the bottle temp up to about 105-110 degrees. Then I go out and use it, man what a difference when I heat that baby up, when the bottle is hot you can tell a big difference in performance. Never knew it to be bad for the solenoids or anything. I say HEAT it up !
