Alright guys here is the my project's details.I have kinda kept it quiet but now things look like they are coming underway and I will tell you guys what I am planning.

Dreaming of McLarens, Ferrari F50's and Pagani Zonda's got me thinking. I really don't have anywhere enough money to buy a 500,000 dollar car, nor a one million dollar car. Probably never will, and I dont think I would appreciate a supercar as much as me building one for myself.

So I wanted build a super car, something that is excessive, over the top, and insane. I'm not saying that I will beat a Mclaren, or come close, but you have got to aim high.

The name F-177 Stealth....is from the stealth strike fighters used in Desert Storm and are still used today. First airplane I had sat in at an airshow, and instantly loved them. Sleek, fast, agile and stealthy. The F works for the reference of F-body, since I am building a Camaro.

My goal were lofty, but in my opnion, reachable.
Top Speed: 205mph
0-60: 3.5 seconds
Cornering G's: 1.0
60-0 Time: 135 ft

More details will come later. Wish me luck...:) Ciao

Sounds cool from what you've said, but i'd like to see some more details........

What do you mean by Maranello Interior?

Oh, and good luck:alert:

Alright, I have got time to type, here come the details.

Chassis and Suspension:

Chrome moly steel front subframe, that accepts C4 corvette a-arms, coilovers w/ electronically adjustable shocks, and rack and pinion steering. 14" ceramic rotors w/ 6 piston power assisted calipers. Aluminum motor plates will attach the motor to the subframe. Interconnected with the floorpan will be more steel tubing, which will attach to the rear subframe. Basically this will create a full framed car, making it much more rigid. Rear suspension will be a truck arm suspension with electronically adjustable shocks. Rear brakes will be 11" ceramic w/ 4 piston calipers. Most bushings will be Del-a-Lum, thought some mounts will be solid to increas rigidity. 18x9.5 3 piece forged front wheels will wear 275/40/18 Pirelli rubber, while 18x11 3 piece forged rear wheels will where Pirelli 315/45/18 rubber.
An extensive roll cage will be constructed for saftey and rigidity of the chassis. More than 20 attachment points I predict will be used, but still allow for easy entry and exit.

Drivetrain:

Trying to push 950 hp is not an easy task. A Dart block with 23* heads will recieve 20 psi of boost from twin turbos. A titanium valvetrain, roller cam and shaft rocker system will allow the engine to rev quickly to its 6500 rpm redline. The turbos will spool fully by 3000 rpms. FAST EFI will controll the fuel, while ELctromotive HPX igition will light off the charge. I am still deciding on a transmission, but currently it is between a 4L80 or a G force manual. After this, a carbon fiber driveshaft will spin the highly modded and fabricated 9 inch rear end. A limited slip differential will control distribution of power, and traction control sensors from a C5 will be used to help hook up this power.

Interior:

Momo seats covered in leather w/ 5 point harnesses. Two seats in stock position, while in the rear, one cneteral seat. Dash, door panels, and counsel will be covered in leather. A custom gauge cluster will keep the style of the original gauges, but will have new technology mixed in. Creature comforts will include air co, heat/defrost, and sound system. Boost controller, spoiler adjustment, shock adjustment, and traction control controller will be hidden inside comparment in center counsel.

Body:

I plan to leave the body all steel except the hood, trunk lid, spoiler, front valance panel and side skirts. These will be laid in carbon fiber, and as the hood and trunk lid will stay the same, the front valance panal, side skirts and rear spoiler will be custom made. Concept drawings are being sketched out as we speak, but I have not had time to color them up or make them as professional as I would like. The front valance will have a space for fog lights, intercooler, and spoiler. Side skirts will help clean up airflow around car. The spoiler will be adjustable from the passanger compartment, to add downforce as speed increases. Under the body, a panel will be added to help with aerodynamics, and will untilize venturi tunnels to help with downforce(see in the XJ220). This will also be laid in carbon fiber. As far as paint goes, I know that I will have a basecoat/clearcoat system, and it will be black, a deep deep black. Windows will be tinted as dark as legal, and orginial side view mirrors will be used. 1967 Camaro taillights will be used, and a chrome rear bumper. Front bumper will be removed. HID conversion head lights, with the RS flip out headlight grille. Mono wiper with built in washer sprayer built in will be used to keep my vision clear.

WOW that was alot of typing.....hmmm well ya that is what I have planned for now, but as we all know, projects change, so this is jsut the rough draft. I will try to post some concept pics soon. Thanks for reading this guys.

You have obviously been planning this project out for quite a while, and it sounds like it's going to be very very cool.

Ya, definatley a while, I have been chomping at the bit to start it...money being the number one issue, but now I can finally begin.

But dont be bowing down to me, lol I am no better than you. Thanks for the support though:)

Nice looking project.

If you dont mind me asking, what's the projected price of this build up? Stealthfighters go for a couple million a piece in real life. ;)

Price, thats a tough question. I really havent started to think about that right now. I belive in the motor, if there is a will, there is a way. Money will be an issue, but I will be working non stop, trying to cut the best deals, but will not sacrifice performance for cost.
Hell, if I get it done for less than 100 grand, and I can beat out any RUF 911, most Ferrari's and other exoctics, I will be happy. But most of all, I wanna build something unique, respected, and fun to drive.

We shall see.

You gonna be doing all the work yourself? or do you have a shop thats gonna do it all?

teamsleep13

Most of this stuff will be done by me or with help from family.

The engine will be almost entirely my work, except for machining, the manifold fabrication and various small items.

Suspension and chassis work.....probably gonna call up wayne due and ask him to help me out.....I can weld and fabricate stuff well, but I am still a little rusty on locating suspension geometery.

Interior will be all me, and exterior, mostly me, except the process of laying the carbon fiber parts, which will be done by a professional.

Concepts come straight from my brain, but I will give props to alot of people who ahve helped me.

So i would say about 60 percent will be my work.

I already have a body kit being built, out of carbon fiber, for everything you just mentioned. The front valance has intercooler mounting, fog lamps, downforce, ect. I know you saw the post, and i'm also offering carbon hoods, and rear decklids. Just a little FYI, as the cost to make 1 set of these is astronomical.
These kits will be availalble for sale in the near future.

Sounds a lot like what I have planned for the '79 Z28.

only differences would be
295 front, 345 rear
blown nitrous
and 1KRWHP
with a 6 (12) speed.

I want to go back to something in the first post, F 117...Sleek, fast, agile

You sure it was a 117 that you were in?? they are none of these things, LOL

Looking forward to seeing pics of the project

Probably commenting on how they look? Because, have to admit they do look all those things, even if they actually aren't.

Any goals for the quartermile too?

teamsleep13

Ya I know those planes arent tooo impressive perfomance wise....but they sure look WICKED!!!:metal: :metal: :metal: All those hard sharp edges make them look fast and agile......but ya you get the point.

Quarter mile.....I would be happy will 10's on street tires. Not really building it for the 1/4. I want raw performance on the track, and I want it to scare the F*** outta me when I hit the loud pedal.

If any of you watch Top Gear, and have seen their reviews on either the Countach, Zonda, or the Mclaren, you will know what I mean. Jeremy Clarkson and Tiff Needle drive those things and have lots of fun doing it, but I know they have got to be shakin when they get outta the cars.

I want that.

If I were you, I'd sick a good chunk of my concentration in designing and engineering first... with a low target weight in mind..

excellent chassis and suspension design + low weight(like 2000 lbs) Add in good aero's, and you'll proabably be able to exceed all your expectations with "mild" 500 HP 7.0L LS1.

If it was possible, I'd rather lose a 1000 lbs on my Camaro than have a 1000 hp.

Supercar with an automatic?............ Beef up the T56 and leave it. You wont be hooking with supercar tires or suspension anyway.

I haven't seen a McClaren under low 11s, the suspension just doesn't have it in it.

Dont see that happening without ridiculous money. www.fastassdatsun.com has a chance, that is his goal, but its still iffy. C4 front and rear suspension, around 600-650 HP last I heard was the intent, and full box frame with 2000 pound weight.

Yeah, and in building a supercar, yet its lightweight, but its still going to have all the ammenities. 3,000 pounds after roll cage and stereo would be a tremendous feat.

My best hope for mine was 3,250 pounds.
