Improved caster is one, save about 3lbs of unsprung weight.

I've got BMR lower A arms, and they are a lot better than stock. First, they have easily replaced urethane bushings, second, they are easier to install than the OEM A arms, and last, as mentioned before, they have about 6 - 7 lbs (for both sides) less weight. The BMR peices are excellent quality, but the $300+ for the arms makes most people a little quesy.

When would you want to replace the stock ones? Or are they usually just replaced due to the weight savings?

Well, my original plan was not to replace the arms at all but rather just the bushings. But replacing the bushings turned out to be a major pita, and I chose to buy the arms already populated with bushings rather than screwing around with the old arms. The BMR arms are really quality made and I don't regret putting down the money for them.
