SLP CAI vs FTRA

Want opinions what is the best one to get combined with Whisper lid + K&N. Also where does the FTRA hook up to ? The front air dam?

It connects the lower part of air box down to air dam.with a duct to scoop cool air into air box.Its great when all three are together, good bang for bux.Easy for a moderatly mechically inclined individual.
The set-up will bring your temps up cuz the ram air plate blocks some of air flow to radiator. Can be remedied by the addition of a 160 thermo and fan switch or power programmer for the times when temps peak, but not neccesary 9or10 degree rise, but I did.
While racing my car I would reach 210+,got the 160 and ran the fan continously prob. went away now runs 185-90 pushin it hard.

I got my holley filter and Whisper lid and FTRA from Thunder racing...get a Holley filter

#7 I would reccomend to you, and anyone that drag races or otherwise pushes the engine hard to install a manual fan switch control. Not very expensive and you can keep tabs on the temperature at will.

Its just a replacement. We can't use different chips. All of our stuff has to be done through a programmer. So for us we have to use the HPP3, or get custom computer tuning.

As for the Switch. Tbyrne.com listed it as "easy-to-install" and it looked to me that its a factory plug-in, that only requires a positive and negative ground. I'd use one of the four switches located on the dash as my fan switch for a factory appearance. (Fog Lights, and ASR) There are two more switch mounting holes located behind the "CAMARO" plate. Just buy a factory switch and the connector (or get one from a salvage yard) - The Fog light one lights up when on. I'd just sand the Fog light symbol off it and either paint or apply decals that say something like "FAN" No one would ever know it wasn't a factory option.

Bliggida,I would reccomend you reading my post AGAIN,and maybe check my mods on the 98 v6. in sig.

I dont Drag,I run road coarses alot more fun IMO...And as I mentioned in the post I remedied the higher temps w/160 thermo and fan switch. In fact in the pregrid I turn the fans on and run continually thru the session and it keeps the temps around 180-90 when they were spiking 210+ before after the FTRA install.
But thanks for caring thats old news to me

Speede Thunder racing and Tbryne are sponsers of this board and either will do,just get the better price

...there it was - bright as day.

I'm going to be trying out the FTRA hopefully in another 2 months. And although I'll run a fan switch. I'll be really interested to know how the car will do in South Texas durning the summer - as is with a 195 'stat. I don't think the overheating hype is as bad as folks make it to be. Might be a minor issue but not like your boiling over. But, I'll tune as neccesary. With a bigger radiator, I doubt we'd have any trouble getting enough cooling to the engine?
