try to get the y-pipe off the car we sheered off a stud on the manifold, and it feels like another one is sheering off as well. we have PB'LASTER on it and it still sheered off. how do we fix this? is there any way to fix the stud?

ditto here too. we broke one when we were gutting the cats.

basically you have to take the manifold off and restud it. this involves tapping the "collector" part where the studs are. you should be able to use the same spot as the original stud.

it's a pain in the ***, but your only other option is to get another manifold, or get headers.

good luck!

I had the same problem...you have to get it fixed or you'll induce a lean condition. The only option is to yank the manifold, drill out the stud with a carbide drill bit, and use a nut and bolt to fasten the manifold to the y-pipe. Or...just get headers. =)

well its leaking, i can't hear it, but at idle the RPM's lope and acceleration is crappy, missing, etc... throttle response seems fine, just missing now, sucks.

so i'm going to drive on it till like friday AM and take it to the muffler shop where they'll drill out the bolt. not sure what i want to do after that... i'm sorta kinda afraid to do the rest of the bolts cause this was the ONLY bolt in a easy-to-get-to position... maybe its just my car's time for headers, huh? but then i'd be afraid of breaking one into the head, how does one fix that?

anyways here are the pics

Just spend $10 in parts and do it yourself! You can still drill the bolt from underneath the car. However if you plan on installing headers make sure you remove the end bolts first because you'll put stress on them while removing the others and cause them to snap. Good luck!

All 6 of my Y pipe bolts broke! Chances are, they all will. I sure am glad I got headers.
