Shammys

I have had my shammys for about a year and now they are leaving little ***** of material on the car whenever I dry it---Does this mean that I need to wash it more, or that I need to buy new ones...

How long are the skin ones supposed to last, on average?

Sounds like you're using the natural tan colored chamois. Those just don't last very long and they start coming apart and leaving material behind, which is what you're seeing on your car. I'd recommend you ditch the natural variety and go with the Absorber, which is a synthetic. Those things usually last for years before they need replacing and they work great too! I use the Absorber and a microfiber waffle weave towel for drying. I find this method quick, safe, and effective. I have not used a natural chamois in many years.....

synthetic ones are the best. I don't think you're supposed to wash *CHAMOIS* with soap, just hose them off.
