This guy i know told me that his GTA had a 383 right from the factory in it. I think its a 1988. According to him, the vins all match up as being standard, but it had some special throttle body plate that designated it differently.
Anyone shed any light?
I thought they all had 305, or 350s, but this guy isnt someone who just talks to talk if you know what i mean.
Thank you.

If he has documentation to back it up, then it's possible.
I doubt it though. I've got a tb plate that says Ram Air, yet my car doesn't have Ram Air.

lol about the ram air.
This was an original TB plate which designated the car. I wish i remembered what it said, but it was some special edition something, which when he cross referenced it, he said it was a 383 GTA. I could care less if he really had one, its more the point of "if GTAs ever had a 383 in any edition, from the factory" I tend to believe him, but everyone keeps telling me that no such thing exists.

OK, just talked to him a little more in detail about the car.
It was a special edition car from Motion Performance. In other words, it wasnt a factory 383, but it did come with one in it. I guess this is comparable to a Berger SS or something like that.

Ok, so it was a dealer installed option. Still cool though to have a 383.

Were people even building 383s back in the 80s? I was under the impression that the 383 didn't really become a popular combo until the early/mid 90s, and even then I don't remember there being commercially available 383 cranks... people were still cutting down 400 cranks.
