Koni shocks on slp package

Does anyone else who has the slp package have Koni adjustables? If so, do you know how to adjust the front shocks? the adjustment screws aren't protuding out of the chassis! just a little rubber tip that can't be removed, and i can push it in, so i know the screw isn't under it. The rear shocks are fine, and i can get to the adjustment screw(s) easily. :confused:

Which SLP suspension are you talking about? If it the '01-'02 1LE, then the bump adjustment on both front and rear shocks is a screw near the bottom of the shock. Clockwise is stiffer, counterclockwise is softer.

The rear rebound adjustment is made by cutting the cutouts in the carpet behind the rear seat, and using the Koni supplied knob.

The front rebound setting is a little more difficult, especially the first time. Start by putting the car on stands and removing the front wheels. This isn't necessary once you figure it out, but I highly suggest it the first time. Anyway, near the top of the shock inside the spring is a slot that spans 90º and is parrallel with the ground. Use a 2.5mm LONG allen wrech, and find the hole in the slot (after you get your mind out of the gutter). Rotate the allen wrench to adjust the shock. You will have to sweep the spanner in 90º increments.

There are about 12 sweeps on both front adjustments and about 2.5-3 turns on the top of the rear shock. I usually start by taking them to full soft and then count.

Be warned that full stiff is brutal and is not the best setting for anything. Full soft is best for drag racing. For autox I used .75 turns over 3 clicks out back, and 7-8 over 4-5. For road racing, I preferred 9 over 9 up front and 1.75 over 5 out back.

And if you find the allen wrench a little awkward,I use a finish nail 3" w/ a sweep bent in the end it helps when going full to one side cuz the sweep will keep the angle more hand friendly and swivles toword either side. so you can go that full 90 and the end you hold is more staight out. I dont take the tire off but did the first time Like said already. good shocks cant wait to get them on the Z

thanks for the write up!! i had thought that the front shocks were identical (in terms of adjustment) to the rear. i did not know that the knob was just for the back shocks. but what do you mean when you said that the rear shocks are adjusted by a screw at the bottom? i thought they were adjusted with the supplied adjustment knob, which fits over an adjustment screw at the top of the shock.

On the bottom of the front and rear shocks is an adjustment. You need a medium size screwdriver to adjust them. Here's the koni website for their instructions. www.koni-na.com

Don't be confusing the single adjustables with the double adjustables. The latter have adjustments at both the top and bottom.

I bet that yours are single adjustable and only adjustable for rebound and that is on the top. The absolute top on the back and the sweep on the front.

Woh be to the person that had his front shocks installed by a dufus that did not face the sweep window outwards.

I also take my allen wrench and put a 30 degree bend in it to facilitate getting it between the spring wire.

If your car came with the 1LE SLP option on the 01-02's they are double adjustables.

On my car SLP installed the front shocks so that the sweep windows are facing in. Stupid F*CKS. It makes adjusting them a bitch. What idiots.

The 1LE shocks are Koni double adjustables (often called DA's). There are 2 adjustements per shock. The knob is for rear rebound, and the screw is used for the bump (compression) setting.
