Motor is an 87 TPI, but the T-56 is from a 95' bird, will the starter from the 87' work on the T56? Will it sit on the bellhousing without any problems? thanx

Another T-56 swap question in which Search Cannot help.BlowBye 03-05-2003, 12:03 AM Motor is an 87 TPI, but the T-56 is from a 95' bird, will the starter from the 87' work on the T56? Will it sit on the bellhousing without any problems? thanx Kevin91Z 03-05-2003, 02:13 AM It depends. Most people say their automatic starter will not work but I know a couple people who say theirs did. I had a T5 starter and it bolted up just fine. stk350 03-05-2003, 03:56 AM I did the a4 to a m5 swap and the nose on the auto starter was to big for the bellhousing. I would imagine that the same would go for a t-56. Jim85IROC 03-05-2003, 08:02 AM Anybody that swapped to a manual and didn't have to change their starter already had a manual starter and didn't know it. BlowBye 03-06-2003, 12:39 AM Thanx guys, Just to note, i did have a T-5 and since the LT1 has less flywheel teeth, i thought that starters were different. thanx Jim85IROC 03-06-2003, 12:54 PM What do you mean the LT1 has less flywheel teeth? The LT1 has 153 teeth, just like the thirdgens use. BlowBye 03-06-2003, 07:44 PM whoops, i thought third gen flywheels had 168:mad: my mistake, thanx for correcting jim. | ||
