Ignition problem!
Ignition problem!
This only a no spark problem.
Here is what happened when the car quit running. I ran the car at the track with a 2 stage of N2O (200 shot). Well, it had two big N2O back fires!
I have resealed the intake and I have been trying to figure out why there is no spark.
I have done the following:
I have a 92 Corvette as a daily driver so I pulled the module and coil off my 93 Z and put it on the vette and it works fine.
I have put 2 optis on the car as well. I have tested all the power wires that goes to the opti, module, and coil. I have also tried burning another chip and swapped computers.
I was told the timing chain might have jumped a tooth or two, but it checked ok. Even if it had jumped there should still be spark.
Any other catastrophies that I dont know about?
Thanks,
Tony

Where is there no spark, at the coil or just at the plugs? did the car crap out immediately after the backfires or was it some time after that?
If there is no spark at the coil, you have to look for the trigger signal from the PCM.
If there is no spark at the coil, you have to look for the trigger signal from the PCM.
I have been helping fast 93 Z with this problem.
There is no spark from coil and the car has not ran since the backfire. There is no luck from the PCM. Is there another way to check for the trigger signal other than an O-scope? I dont have an o-scope
If there is no trigger signal what is the best route to correct this failure?
Thanks!

Try swapping your ignition control module. I had a huge backfire and that's what had went bad. I had some crazy spark problems afterwards and swapping back to the stock ignition fixed the problem until I could get another Crane box. Hope this helps.

Its either the
PCM
opti
coil
ignition module
that is all the parts of the ignition sytem(obviously remove any aftermarket ignition boxes you have). if you have replaced all of those, must be a melted wire or sompin

well the first thing you need to do is scan your codes. that will tell you alot. also autozone can print you out a sheet telling you all the things to check in order to track down the problem, it is very helpfull It will check everything from the computer to the opti and all you need is a voltmeter and a test light.
Jordan......I have replaced all of those items!! And everything is getting the correct voltage! Anyone else have any ideas?? I have scymatics on the wiring already, and we have gone through it 5 times!

Check for firing signals that originate at the opti.
Is it possible the ign fuse is blown or one of the fuseable links? Also do you have your opti installed properly? since its a 93 the little shaft that cannot be installed anyother way CAN!!! lol I know this for a fact. Just a few ideas.
