Will tuning fix my popping?

When I rev it up above say 3g sitting still, the exhaust pops. I think it has something to do with running rich because of no tune, is this true? I have MACs, I probably have a small leak at the Y-Pipe that I can hear hissing while driving, like if I bog the motor I can hear it a lot. Whats a fix for the popping, or isnt there one?

tuning will prob not fix it...it might help if your ir fuel is way off but i would fix that exhaust leak and try getting a different catback...like a borla

My exaust leak caused me to run rich and pop a lot. It was before the 02's so thats why. I fixed the leak and the popping went away with it!

Unhappy

Mine has been popping for a while now. As soon as I can save up a lil more green I think I'm going with the Borla. It has a Flowmaster cat-bk n Edelbrock shorties that were on there when I got the it. I finally got tired of it and took a look and I found that it is right where the pipe goes into the muffler just above the rear. They were welded and where the weld is has rusted thru DAMN SALT That should be an interesting job. I would say this sounds like your "Popping" Maybe not in exactly the same place but somewhere in your exhaust system.

The reason I have a prob with it mainly is because it also smells like crap, like when the car sits and runs for a while if im in it the smell is overwhelming. I know its running rich, and Im trying to figure out why, whether its because of a leak and the O2s are compensating for some reason, or if it just needs a tune. And it sounds crappy too.

I've been having a lot of the same problems... when i rev up it'll pop and even int he mornings when it is cold...ill let it run for 5 minutes or so and then head to school and it will pop 1st 2nd and 3rd....one morning even 4th. When i park my car in the garage it wreaks. I'm guessin i have some sort of leak but I'm not sure how to diagnose one. I was thinking of gettin some taylor wires and some nkg plugs. I JUST WANNA GET RID OF THE SMELL AND POPPING any help?

Mine pops when you get off the gas kinda quick like in that sound clip. No leaks here. I think it is completely normal for out cars. Mine has always done it.
