It all depends... do you live in CA or in a smog controlled area? If so then you have very few choices as there are no kits made for your car/engine package specifically, and a late model swap with fuel injection would be required. If not, then your options are endless. What motor/induction is in the car? I'm guessing it's an 8:1 quadrajet smog motor with cast pistons. What kind of supercharger would you prefer? Holley and Weiand make a whole line of small and large roots blowers for the street, but you must swap out your intake to the blower intake. You can use a single carb with the 142-177s, you would probably want to go to a holley. As for the centrifugals, Vortech has a carb/blower setup that seems to be really cool. The carburetor is sealed in a box so that the pressure all around the carb is the same and only simple changes need to be made to a standard Holley or Demon carb. ATI also makes Procharger kits for carbs, which is the system I would probably go with since they also offer Self Containted blower units which means engine oil doesn't need to be circulated into and out of the blower...it has its own oil supply. Plus the fact that you can add an intercooler to the mix and get even more power with increased reliability and repeatability. Problem is that a more extensively modified carb is required so I'm told, because the boost is pushed down the carb throat, and with the pressure outside being much less, there is a higher chance of boost escaping, so they remove the choke and seal off the throttle shafts. But a $450 carb is still less than the $800 box from Vortech...the box does look cooler though The Procharger would probably be your best bet, but again, a Holley or better carb is reccommended and you would probably need to change your intake. Adding a performer RPM Gap and a Holley would be about right...but then depending on what you have, that alone might give you a huge boost in performance as well.
