Perhaps by running the car down to the very last drop of gas, you could have pulled in some misc. rust/crap from the bottom of the gas tank. You could verify this by pulling the fuel filter and seeing what comes out.

Just a guess but air in the system may be a problem. Try purging through the schrader valve and reset the code in the computer and see what that does.

Purge with the key on but engine off.

Just a thought, try to leave you battery unplugged for 15 minutes or whatever it is to reset your computer.

These cars are NOTORIOUS for the fuel pump going out when you run out of fuel on them -- although the car usually doesn't start when this is a problem, it could be a sign of the part failing. Just a thought, as this has happened to me even WITHOUT running out of gas ever.

I am going with the fuel pump failing. If you don't know how to change one plan on spending a grand or so to have someone change one out. I find it funny people would rather run on E and burn up the expensive fuel pump and all the labor involved in the swap rather than just filling up.

Cool

I heard somewhere that gas actually keeps the fuel pump cool in the gas tank, and by running out of gas, this may overheat the fuel pump in there. But if your car is running again, might check out the cat for damage, but I dunno.Hope this helps.

The schrader valve is here.

Don't think it is going to help you, however you may need it to check your fuel pressure.

I would replace the fuel filter first. It is also possible that you have finally burned up your fuel pump. Indeed, the fuel does cool the pump and running it out of gas at any time can is bad for it (multiple times, even worse).

You should also get it scanned to see what the SES light is all about. If you ever need to reset the pcm, you only need to pull the PCM BATT fuse for about 15 seconds and then put it back.

Try not to run any cars tank dry, some cars come OEM with an external pump but most are in-tank. In tank pumps want to see gas to help cool them, so I usually fill up at 1/3 tank or so if not sooner.

you burned out your pump The same thing happened to me when I ran mine dry...when I filled it up it was missing and sputtering with the SES light blinking, and within about 5 minutes the car died. The fuel pumps actually do use fuel for cooling, thats why they are located inside a plastic can inside the tank. I replaced mine with a Walboro and never had a problem again (I also never got below 1/4 tank again).

here's how to replace it:
