Zaino, P21S, Pinnacle, Klasse, Meguiar's Gold Class, Mother's Reflections, Liquis Glass, synthetis products like Zaino, Klasse and Liquid Glass will last longer than carnauba products.

If you would like to read about our product (Zaino) you can see our home page here: www.zainobros.com

If you have let your car go for a while, of course the first step would be a wash, but then I would for sure use a clay bar on it, claying it would make a WORLD of difference in how your final finish polish or wax will work.

I am located in TN also.

If this is your normal routine for care of your car's finish. I would suggest a sealant. The ones that offer the best protection and longevity are Zaino and Klasse. To get the best out of either of these two protectants one MOST prep paint ( Wash,Clay, SMR, Polish). Bring your finish to its/your desired gloss, smoothness, and marr-free as possible state. Apply the sealant and enjoy.
It is not the product the rejuveniates your paint but the work you put into prepping it. A protectants only seals in the art (hard) work.

Why do I see this resulting in another "ZAINO SUCKS!!!" "ZAINO IS GOD!!!" war?

It's not god. I use it, it works very well. All of my cars and bikes are very happy and shiny. I've used a lot of products and personally like Zaino the best. 15 year old black Firebird looks damn good with a few coats of Zaino. If you get it though, look forward to spending $100 or so. Get the full kit. Do it slow, do it right. Worth the wait.

My $0.02

He did ask what was good and Zaino is the favorite of most message boards. Should we not tell him about it?? ;)

I'm not saying we shouldn't. It's a quality product. He asked. It's just that I often see these break out into flame wars of people yelling how they hate this or hate that.

I like Zaino.

Since your car is a '93 and you say that you've been neglecting it a little, I'd second the advice of blkZ28Conv. The wax or sealant steps are secondary in importance to your prep-work steps like claying, compounding & polishing. Only when you are satisfied with the way your car looks should to start applying your sealant. Of course, this is easy for me to say since I had my car prepped by a professional and the fun part of waxing was done by me.

Hehehe, you missed out on the fun part! :p Nothing like rubbing and buffing a finish to perfection IMO. The wax is the icing on the cake. :D

Seriously though, I do agree that good prep makes the most difference, regardless of what final wax or polish product you choose. You could apply Zaino, Meguiar's, Mother's, P21S, whatever, over a badly oxidized, crappy looking finish, and in the end it'll still be badly oxidized and crappy looking without prep work. Of course, this is an extreme example because most people's finishes here aren't badly oxidized, or even close. But, my point is that applying any pure wax or sealant product over an imperfect finish will yield imperfect results. So, if you're looking for something quick and easy, I'd suggest a quick claying, then Klasse All-In-One cleaner/sealant, then a final wax or sealant of your choice, like Klasse Sealant glaze, Liquid Glass, DuraGloss CCP, 3M Paste wax, Mother's pure carnauba paste, or even Zaino. If you want even better results and want to put more time into your finish, I'd suggest separate products instead of an all in one product like the Klasse. Something like Meguiar's #9, Meguiar's or Mother's Paint cleaners, P21S or S100 Gloss Enhancing Polish will help clean the finish. Then you could use a layerable product like Zaino or Klasse as the final protectant. You probably need to do a good claying, and paint cleaning/swirl removing before waxing or sealing.

HTH!
