Cam installed, now car shakes

I have just put in my cam. Its a Crane 2032, and I was driving it for the first time today and I noticed that the car shook alot when i had it in reverse and when i came to a stop. It also shook when I began to take off. Could low fuel pressure be the cause of it or the timing. Also should i go with the timing on the cam card or by the cars manual.

does the cam have more "lop" than the one you previously had? If so, then it might be normal.

Are you sure about the timing? Did you remove the timing advance wire before setting it to 6 deg? Also did you reset the base idle?

I did disconnect the wire. What do you mean base idle?

for the record how do you set your base idle again?
and i set the tps sensor after that right?

You might have tightened down a rocker too far and are hanging the valve open. You'll run on 7 if you've done that (or fewer if you've hung more than one open). It will be worse at idle and low speeds, smoothing out slightly as the revs climb. THis will happen all the time under all conditions, however.

Or you might just have a plug or wire that is toast.

Or you might have mixed up a couple of wires on the distributor (wrong firing order).

All pretty common problems after a cam swap.

If I had to guess I'd say this feels ignition related, being intermittent.

I second the valve lash guess. Did you set lash with the motor running or not. I know it is a pain with all the smog stuff to do it while running due to all the junk in the way of the valve covers. But it only takes a turn or two to many and the valve will hang open. A compression test may help determine that without actually taking the valve covers off and re-adjusting with the motor running.

Also is every vacuum line plugged in?

Try to stick to things you know you messed with first before trying other things. Valve lash,unhooking vacuum lines, and spark plug wires a a few of those things.
