Where's the closest 1/4 mile to Columbus, MS?

I'm moving there next month and I like to hit the track every now and then. I've heard there's an 1/8 mile track in Columbus, but I can't really find anything about a 1/4 mile anywhere near there. I thought you guys might know.

The closest one that I know of is in Lena Mississippi then I think Hub city is the next closest. The closest one that I've been to is probably Steele, Al which is about 2 hours and 45 minutes away. Then you've also got Montgomery Motorsports park which is about 3 hours away.

I take it you're coming here for pilot training? Good luck! I'm going to graduate UPT April 4th. When you get to town look me up.

See ya,

Jerry

Yeah, I start 19 March. That's a long way to go race. How close is Memphis to Columbus?

Lena is about an hour and a half away. It usually hooks good and a good bit of people show up on Sat nights. Hub city is about 3 hours away and hooks great. Hub city is where I have run my best times. I guess if you will travel 3 hours you could also go to Memphis. I heard the 1/8 mile track in Columbus closed. There is also an 1/8 mile track in Aberdeen. It is very close.

An hour and a half huh? That's not bad at all. It takes almost that long to drive up to Bandimere from here.

I forgot there is also a track on Greenville. It is on the other side of the state probly >2 hours away. It is an outlaw track. There will be people sitting on the guard rails while you do a burnout. But it is pretty cool. When you get here we will have to get a couple people together and go to Lena.

What have you done to your car?

Not a whole lot. CAI, headers, Borla, Hotcam. That's about it for power. I'm interested to see what it'll do down at sea level. My best before the cam was a 14.6@98 but that was with a DA of about 9000'.

You will be able to run some good times down here. I have a 94 Z with headers, 2800 stall, and gears. I have run a 1.8 60' at Hub City. The best my car has run is a 13.2 @ 101. If I could get some more mph I would have been in the 12s. I also have a 95 Formula that has a 355 and supercharger. I have no idea what it is going to run but I hope it gets into the tens.

My roommate has a 96 Z28 with a 355 and a supercharger. He's hoping for 10's as well. Well, at least once, cause he doesn't want to put a rollbar in it.

My car has a rollbar. I am not going to drive it around too much. It is mainly a race car.

Also the tracks around here are not strict about the rules. My friend had a 69 Camaro and he didnt get a rollbar till he was running 9.5s. They never told him to leave. Just at Lena everyone has to have a helmet.
