you need the clutch to shift the gears, or else you will do alot of grinding. If you want to shift fast, you can just hold the gas in, push on the cluth real fast, and shift at the same time. It takes some practice, but i can't tell you if your tranny would take that. It will be hard on the car.

Double clutching is for downshifting. The fast and the furious is a load of bullsh!t car slang coupled with bad acting and neon cars.

You could always invest in an air shifter. Its MUCH faster than your hand, but you need to buy/refill CO2 cartridges too often for it to be practical IMO.

when I had my 89 iroc and I had the 6 speed in it. Id power shift. Which I would let off the gas id kinda tap the clutch as im shifting. You gotta be real quick and it takes practice. Always use the clutch though.

Actually double clutching is not for downshifting...it's when you are accelerating and you hit a certain RPM's (VTEC) you hit the clutch really quickly then let out and ride untill the redline then shift. This is supposed trick the motor into "hitting v-tec harder" It just a bunch of BS really. It is pointless to do it on a V8 car...you will just fry your clutch.

double clutching has been around much longer than "vtech"

actually double clutching was used before fully syncronized trannies, it was used to match the speed off the lay shaft and the next higher or lower gear. this was done by letting the clutch out with the car out of gear then giving it a quick rev then clutching it agian and puting it gear sounds complicated but it can be done very fast. ever watch Steve Mcqueen? listen to that mustang as he flys around those city streets, it sounds like it's spitting and sputtering, but it's double clutching!

You can shift without using the clutch when driving "normal", just wind the gear out a little longer and shift without the clutch. No grinding,no problem. I wouldn't recomend this for racing though, try it!

no, prob bro by the way double clutching serves absolutley no purpose on our cars, it's better (well not better for car but better for the time slips) to pwer shift like the guys said earlier, leave yer foot on the floor and shift that sucker, just make sure you hit the gear, later boys
