Well I got through the other problem with the boot disk but ran into another. Once I got the program opened, and the cable plugged in, the message opened that said :
"attempting to communicate" and then said "cable error" I am trying to use two cables. When I got the 15"ft cable it turned out to be too small so I bought one at ComUSA (local pc store) and the connections and everything hooked up and everything sound. What could be the problem? Obviously the cable but how? I bought the cable through AEKM I think it was, the company that most of you guys buy yours from. Anyone shed some light on this? Thanks in advance.

BTW: This is a repost from LT1 Tech in case they can't help.

You probably bought the more expensive straight through cable thinking it was better. You need a standard male to female 9 pin extension cable.

Too small? Count the pins that you need, there are only 2 cable types on the back of the computer other than male/female versions of the same pinout, serial and parallel.

I think he was referring to length. It sounds like he's using a desktop to do his upload/download.

The problem with serial cable extensions is that they do offer either the straight through or standard. If you get the wrong one you will mix signals at the connector.

Thanks guys for your responses. I posted this in LT1 tech and found the problem and forgot to check this section. I am running it from my desktop. I found I was using the wrong port. I swapped with my printer and that did it. Thanks again.
