Senors ignored in open loop?

Hey guys on my 94 TA i think my 02's are bad because when i plug them in my car runs like crap even at WOT. Supposedly the computer ignores the 02's at WOT so why then does my car run like crap with them plugged in and at WOT? So i unplugged one of them the other day and bam the car runs great!! A little cam surge but otherwise ok at driving and WOT. So i guess my question is that theoretically speaking if my 02's are bad my car should still run ok at WOT right? However, this is not the case. If im not mistaken unplugging the 02's puts it in open loop. So are there any other sensors the computer ignores in open loop? You could have an exaust leak, especially if you have headers. Yes the O2s are ignored at WOT, it uses low end calculations to estimate fueling for WOT. So, if you have a split BLM at low end then you will have one at WOT also, which will also suck power.

Logging the car is the easiest way to find out.

Thanks Dr. :D You think replacing 02's would help? I had a header leak but it should be fixed now :mad: . What the common cure for split BLM's?

Split BLMs would most likely be caused by a big cam, a dead O2, or an exaust leak.

Without logging it, you will be throwing money at parts trying to chase down a problem, I know because I was down that road. You can look at your Chiltons for testing each and every single sensor, or you can log it and find out.

Buying a cable and grabbing Freescan is one of the best things available to us.

My own exaust leak mostly showed up at WOT or 4k RPM and above only (even low throttle 4k RPM). I could not get it to set a code at regular cruising.

Thanks again Dr. :bow: Problem is i have a big cam, old 02's, and just recently fixed exhaust leak!! So i guess im gonna buy that cable for logging it sometime.

If the exaust leak has been fixed, and you had your "old O2s" during that time, one or both of them could be dead. Local stores seem to want $70 for each of them that I've seen, but they are about $35 each from a dealer, so if you can wait to order them you should save some dough, or go with the cable and know for sure whats going on...
