After waiting since November, my revalved front Bilsteins finally arrived last night. Do I need to do an alignment after the install?

Alignment needed after shock install ?RobK 01-31-2003, 06:00 PM After waiting since November, my revalved front Bilsteins finally arrived last night. Do I need to do an alignment after the install? -Rob Dr.Mudge 02-01-2003, 02:05 AM For shocks it shouldn't matter, if changing ride height with springs, yes. WOT 02-01-2003, 02:16 AM I didn't get my car aligned after I installed Bilsteins-and it drove just the same. However, there was a note included in the boxes that said to get the car re-aligned after putting on the shocks. Norm Peterson 02-03-2003, 06:43 AM The time that you'd do an alignment after installing shocks is if the new ones are gas pressure, particularly if they're high-pressure units (Bilsteins, KYB Gas-A-Justs, etc.). The assumption goes that the old ones were non-gas pressure, low-pressure gas, or that the gas has leaked out, hence your new ride height would increase slightly with the new ones. It's this ride height change that warrants at least a check on your alignment settings. Norm | ||
