tunercat/lt1edit

I'm looking to buy something to program my 94 6 speed z28. I thought Lt1edit was the way to go,but I keep hearing about tunercat. Which is better? Also, how does it work? Does the computer read your info, or show an air-fuel ratio curve to tune off of? I have a procharger intercooled w/8psi of boost and basics , headers and all exhaust. What kind of horsepower gains could I see off of these tunes. Where is the best place to go to buy these programms. thanks alot

Both do about the same, I think the Lt1edit expert version is the best. You need a cable, build it for $25 or buy one for $65-95. You need some flavor of logging software, free to $100. I have datamaster, I bought with my cable. Go here for more info.

It may seem intimidating at first, but it's really not bad after you spend some time reading.

Yeah, we get this alot, I think we need to have a sticky on the top that says "If you have a 93-95, get Tunercat, if you have 96-02, you have to get LT1/LS1Edit." Steve gave you all the websites you need, but I definitely disagree with the LT1Edit over Tunercat, whether it is the Expert or Standard version of LT1Edit. Tunercat does the exact same thing, isn't VIN locked, and will cost you about $150 cheaper (more if you pay the extra for the expert version). Go with Tunercat. It'll only run you about $100

I have screen shots and etc of Tunercat, that I have posted probaby 5 or 6 times over time, in several different threads, because this does get asked quite alot.

They do the same thing, so there is really nothing to say other than preference. Some people believe LT1 Edit is more user friendly in naming convention, I personally think Tunercat looks more professional, and not VIN locked so I have helped others before, I can use it on other cars with a $20 definition file, and I do NOT like trusting Windows with flashing the car, I am a DOS man.

What it comes down to is, do you want to pay more, or do you want to save money. If you spend the time to learn what sensor is what and how to tune, you can use either program.
