mixed feelings on EDELBROCK catback

i got it put on yesterday. looked pretty good. anyways there are alot of ways to describe the sound. it is loud as hell, almost obnoxious. i would definately not be able to stand loudmouth. it sounds really good accelerating. the tone is pretty good. it does sorta kinda however sound like a 'good sounding' ricer. it still has the american bass to it. anyways im a very picky perosn i for the last 2 days debated on taking it off in favor of stock. everyone that has heard it said they like it. now to the part that sucks *******.....letting off the gas. it has the sorta backfiring sound, it kinda quievers. i hate the sound of letting off the gas or downshifting and not giving gas. anyways it sounds really good and loud except the POPing. the intercooled chrome tips are already rusted....go figure. so ill fog some paint up in them like i had done on my 95 camaro. the only thing is that on the intercooled there is like a tip within a tip and space around it, ya know. i felt a little top end gain. its 3 inch piping that bolts up to the s pipe.

final words....

doesnt really sound a whole lot better than any other exhaust system, but a lot louder. looks pretty good. if anyones on the market go for the edelbrock if u want a fairly loud deep sound. it is much better than flowmaster! the muffler is fiberglass packed so should sound better with time. im starting to like it more already. the pipes are all aluminized steel. the price isnt too steep. if anyone was really intrested pm me and ill let you hear it over the phone.

basically performance gain and tone were worth the money on this one. id give it 3.5-4 out of 5 stars.

For some reason I thought Edelbrock was a quiet exhaust. A clip I heard before seemed quiet (I don't go by clips anymore...course I still need to fix my sound card)
I'm still thinking of saving up for the Triflow, though. I just hate the $600+ even if I can afford it.

If it helps some: I have read that it'll quieten down some once it burns in.

Just remember that we're somewhat in the middle here...

two cylinders short of a V8 and only two cylinders up on a four banger so expect something somewhat in the middle.

I've heard just about every exhaust for the V6 in person and they more or less all sound similar. There is no one exhaust that will have your car sounding like a V8 or having the same sort of grunt.

Edelbrock does sound pretty decent, since I figure every exhaust will have lose the deep sound down low up above 3k so it might as well sound as mean, loud and robust down low. Edelbrock is deep down low, though not as deep as Flowmaster. The one I heard in person didn't get too high in RPMs for me to make a opinion on it though.

u can actually take it up to 5000 rpms before is sounds like metal flapping, thats pretty impressive for a 6 cyl. i actually just got done spraying the inside of my tips where they were rusty already. i do recommend these slash cut intercooled tips on any exhaust, however spring for the extra $20 a piece and get stainless. painting black actually made it look better as far as contrast because of the ring in the middle.
