Exclamation Need recommendations for leather conditioner!

Just got this nice new (to me) GS400 this past Saturday and even though it only has 30k miles (up in the north, so cold conditions), it's kind of obvious that whoever owned it before didn't know what you need to condition your leather. I mean, there aren't any cracks yet... but to the touch, in some of the more creased areas of the seats, it feels obviously stiff and dry. It needs conditioner badly.

So I need your opinions. Cost isn't really of importance right now- saving the seats on this nice new car is all I care about.

Congrats on the car! I've always like the newer GS series cars, plenty of style, class, and with the V8, speed too.

Anyhow, for good leather conditioners, there are several that work well. For restoration and preservation, Leatherique is arguably the best, but also pricey and somewhat hard to come by. For just good all around leather care, I think you can't go wrong with just about any of these products: Lexol, Eagle One, Zaino Z10, Pinnacle, Griot's, etc... I really like the Eagle One since I can find it locally and it leaves a nice scent too. I apply the E1 with my bare hands, per directions, and it leaves a nice soft surface. The Zaino Z10 smells more like real leather and provides good UV protection and is easy to use. Lexol has been around forever and also works fine for leather care. I've never used Griot's, but I hear people really like it too. Many of these products you can find locally if you look around. My best advice is to try several different brands and see what you like the best, and what works best on the type of leather in your car.

Nice car too!

Z9 and Z10! I bought all the Zaino products basicacly, and although i wasnt all that impressed with the wax I will say that theyre leather stuff is amazing (even though I also think the other Z is amazing too). It cleans extremely well and leave the leather better than when it was new. I used it and my seats smelled BRAN NEW, and were actually softer than when they were new.

I just bought some Lexol a few weeks ago. I am terribly disappointed. It doesnt seem to clean well at all. It does leave the seats softer and less tacky after a cleaning though.

Just thought I'd mention that the reps at www.leatherseats.com highly recommend against Lexol. They indicated the process that auto leather goes through is different than furniture leather. As a result, Lexol is extremely harsh on leather that is typically used in automotive applications...

They highly recommend Mothers leather products. I think I am going to try the Zaino though...

Of course they're not going to talk a product up they don't sell. I've used Lexol regularly for 6 years on one of my cars and I have YET to get any cracks.

I used Lexol in my shops for many years and it always did a great job, used is on my personal cars too before Zaino, never a problem.

That's interesting...Thanks for letting me know. The shop that installed my seats recommended Lexol too. Leatherseats.com had cited some customers who experienced problems using Lexol. I guess it all comes down to the experience people have had.

I haven't heard anything bad about Zaino leather care products yet...

I have seen many GM and Ford dealerships selling Lexol leather products, so it can not be too bad.
