Your speedometer will read slower than you're traveling which won't hurt anything except getting pulled over and actualy not know you were going that fast. It also might through off the ABS. A HPP3 will fix this problem

"WHAT" a Hypertech Power Programmer does is recalibrate your tire size for the speedo and for when u change gears..it also allows you to turn on the fans earlier and change the shift points..

a piece of junk except when u need to change the speedo for the gears/tire size

It shouldn't affect the speedo because the wheels are bigger but the tires are a lower profile.

the hpp3 is 300+ bones. and its easy to use once you get it.
and i do believe changing wheel size affects the speedo.

The overall diameter is the key. ;) If he is putting on 17" SS wheels, the overall diameter will be larger, thus throwing off the speedometer.

Probably not by much, but still.

I'd forget the power programer.. you would have to put 40" swampers on the car to really make a noticable difference in the spedo. why throw away 300+ for the programer just to get a 1-2 mph fix?

Shouldn't effect your speedo at all if you get the right tires for the rim.

Work it out like this for your stock tires now....

((Tirewidth * AspectRatio)/25.4)*2 + RIM diameter

Compare it to SS Wheels and Tires

((275 * 0.40)/25.4)*2 + 17= 25.66 overall diameter
