Xenon White Lights
Xenon White Lights
I was wondering, do they make bulbs that I can put in my low beams and fog lights that will make them te hyperwhite bright lights? If so, what are they called and who has them for the cheapest? Thanks
Alright here is what you do. For our cars to change a headlight you need to replace the whole housing. Cost $20. I dont think there is a company that make hyperwhite bulbs already in the housing. Here is what I did. Take your low beams housings off your car. Take a screwdriver and pop off the black rubber housing. Be carefully and do it slowly so not to break the glass housing. This will allow you to pull your bulb out. Now you can buy a regulay hyperwhite bulb to stick in there. I think it is 9005 for low and 9006 for the high beams. Just instert the bulb and seal it shut. I used superglue and then a waterproof oxpy to do mine. I did this on mine about a year ago. You can do a search on here also and someone actually made step by step instructions with pictures of how to do this. It is very simply but will take about two hours to do because you need to be carefull. The bulb I used was Piaa hyperwhite plantiumn. It is gas filled and cost $60 dollars for the pair. They are nice though. It would be real nice if our damn housing wasnt so small but it is still a nice improvement. I am working on the fog lamps myself, but ebaymotors.com has all kinds of bulbs real cheap.
Here's you a link to the install 95Z was talking about.
There are tons of different bulbs like what you are looking for. Xenon is a type of gas...along with Halogen, Krypton, etc. etc. etc. So a Xenon white bulb would just be a bulb that ran Xenon gas in a bulb that was made to have a white output (aka - a tinted bulb).
There are tons of retailers, and e-bay has a slew of them. You can get some kind of bulb from somewhere online, or just go to Advance Auto and get the Sylvania Silverstars, they are the best you are gonna get for the stock housings.
The stock housings will never put out the light you could be getting with any bulb, I know, I fought the idea for a long time, trying every way possible to use the stock $25 housings, but they are crappy.
PIAA's aren't worth it IMO, and a lot of others, they are an expensive name.
Fog lights are available as well, but only online (unless you live near a ricer store, or something like it). You can find many of the following bulb sizes with a white output, and they will all work in the 885 harness (stock). 885 = 880, 890, 892, 893, 884.
Or if you just want a set of really bright, really white fog lights, check out the link in my sig for an install guide. They beat the snot out of the stockers.
That should help.

If you decide to be cheap and stick with the stock housings, make sure to use a good quality clear silicon to seal them back in.
Also, 9005 bulbs can be used on both the low and high beams with MINOR modification. This will give you more wattage in most cases.
I recommend Krypton gas or a Krypton / Xenon mix.
The best bulb I tried in the stock housings was a 4300k Nokya 100w 9005.
