Opinions...What is the best NON-synthetic oil?

My car has 115K on it now so I dont feel it is worth the expense of synthetic.

What NON-synthetics would be best?

I understand that Trey. I just dont wont to deal with the price or the possible leaks.

everyone has their opinion of the best oil as being Mobil 1 or Amsoil. I would just like to see what comes up for non-synthetics.

Thanks

Castrol GTX

that's what I use in my Camaro (107k, leaks oil like mad) and my truck (no point in synthetic, with the tiny filter on my 4x4 I change every 5k anyway and never rev over 5k, ever).... On another car I had, Mobil1 would make the lifters "tick" but Castrol GTX was quiet as a mouse.... I think it works well on older engines.

Castrol GTX high mileage The Max Life doesn't have as good an additive package anymore (Patman can verify). The best thing still is to get two bottles of this www.auto-rx.com. You could go synthetic after that with no worries of leaks but GTX high mileage is the best out there.

I agree, Castrol GTX shows incredible oil analysis numbers. In fact, out of all the LS1 oil analysis results I've seen, synthetics included, Castrol GTX showed the lowest wear numbers of all.

so one might assume that statement says that castrol gtx is better than synthetics?

Not necessarily, considering the small number of samples I'm talking about (maybe 20 in total) But it does prove a point, that synthetics aren't the be all end all of motor oils. I use them, mainly because I know they are better for longer drain intervals and they flow better in the extreme cold up here.

But if you live in a warmer climate and are the type that changes your oil every 3000 miles no matter what, you will probably never wear out an engine before 200,000 miles while using GTX, at least not due to lubrication related failures.

Valvoline for lower RPM V-8's. GTX in my motorcycles. I thought it was designed for higher heat, higher RPM smaller engines. It used to cause a little more carbon build-up in V-8's. It may be better than years ago though I'll vote for either but I like Valvoline for the bigger engines. Later>>>>>>>>>>
