Exhaust ?'ss for my 2001 V6

I've had 2 diff. cut-out exhausts set-up but they aren't doing it for me. I'm thinking B&B or magnaflow but I've never heard them on a 6-cyl. I know Borla sounds good but I don't want to pay for the name. Thanks for the advice guys.

please do not consider the magnaflow. no offense to anybody that odes have it but they suck on V6's. my friend has a 98 camaro and has it on it. at like 1,000 rpm it sounds good anything higher and it sounds real hollow and ricey sounding. i have a borla and it rocks. honestly try to save up so you wont buy it twice cause you did not like the other one. oh yeah, the 80 series flowmaster sounds good too. but please no magnaflow. ill try to load up a clip of it so you can see what i am talking about.

The Magnaflow is a cheap design and has a restrictive baffle that sends 90% un muffled exhaust out the right side.

I said it in a post the other day...

Magnaflow =

Flowmasters can sound good with a bigger I-pipe and no revving in neutral. Downlow they sound probably the best. Borla is good (what I have) but I wouldn't pay for them (got them for dirt cheap...less than Flowmaster).

Consider Spintech (sound decent)...forget Magnaflow and Ravin...listen to Flowmaster and Dynomax first hand.

I have an 80 series on my 3.4 and it sounds really good up until 3k or so. This is with the stock I-pipe, so it could sound even better.

*AHEM*I'd go with a magnaflow if I were you, thats what I'd do. No one thinks it is ricey, most people ask me if it is an 8 or a 6, because you honestly can't really tell. For you who say it sounds ricey and it is restrictive, listen to one that is correctly set up and look inside of one of the magnaflow mufflers. You can see straight out the other side...restrictive my @ss....I'm not trying to be rude, seriously, but it is very free flowing. After I got it put on, I could even smell the gas fumes because it flowed SO much better. Flowmasters are....eh.... to me. i know 2 people that have them on their 3.8's and they make the most awful sound whenever you let off the gas like they are gagging or something.

I recommend 3" piping from the cat to muffler, and 2.5" from the muffler out.

Do you have x-ray goggles on?

How are you seeing strait through a Magnaflow? There is a curved baffle 1 inch from the inlet that blocks 80% of the exhaust and shoves it out the right side tailpipe.

Funny story...true, but funny.

Today in the campus parking garage, another Camaro pulled up next to me while I was sitting in my car with my girlfriend. He got out and I guess saw my tips and asked if he could hear it. So I started up and he said it sounded pretty nice (he said he had heard louder...Flowmaster Am.Thunder) and he had *surprise* a Magnaflow. He said he got it installed at G & L in Fremont where I had my exhaust put on. He said he was ready to throw his out and he started up for me and revved it. I know, I know...revving in neutral isn't good for sound but I would take a Flowmaster over a Magnaflow any day.

He had a 2.5" pipe too so it wasn't just muffler...even he said it sounded like @$$. Don't assume just because we think it sounds like @$$ that it wasn't installed correctly. So that is about 3-4 Mangaflows I've heard that didn't sound too good.

I'm not even biased toward Flowmasters...I think they sound pretty decent as long as you dont revv in neutral and if paired with a bigger pipe.

Ok, we may be talking different types of Magnaflow mufflers then. With the one I have, you can see straight through it. My exhaust is maybe 55% to one side, 45% to the other, but it doesn't come out more on one side than the other to a large amount. The one I got must be different from the ones you guys have experienced. Anyways, not trying to be a pain in the *** here.
