I have a chance to get a good deal on a 89' Corvette Converter. It has a stall rating of 2025 RPM. Would it be a good choice to add that to a 85' IROC 305 TPI with Headers, Catback, and other small mods. I would appricate any replys about the corvette Converters. Thanks

I wouldnt pull the tranny just to install that converter, but if you have it apart, then yes, do the upgrade. And you better be getting it for a cheap price, since its a used stock converter.

Any converter with a higher stall speed than stock will make a performance improvement as long as you don't go so high as to take the engine out of its useable powerband.
A stock Vette TC will make your 60ft times come down nicely if you use some decent rubber to help with traction.
I would recommend if you're buying a new converter to go with a 2500 rpm or even a 3000. I had a 2500 in my car and I know it made a big improvement. I now wish i had a 3000.

I have to disagree a bit. Two years ago I put in a Vig 2800 behind a stock cam and heads L98 IROC. It flashed around 3200. Although I got some great 60 ft times (best of 1.79) it did nothing for et and I actually lost mph.
Oh, and launching on the street was a real treat too!
I think it stalled too high in the rpm range.
I ended up selling it and putting the stock one back in but I'm considering trying out the vette convertor too.

I know it made a huge difference on mine in 60ft. I went from a 2.06 to a 1.96 both on bald street tires. I had other problems that prevented me from making a solid 1/4 mile pass so I couldn't get a before/after all the way through. In the 1/8th I went 9.38 stock, and 9.22 with the 2500 tc. Maybe anything more is too much for stock.
