I had my stock crank and turned it to a 3 9/16" small journal crank. I am using small journal 6" rods but I am having a very difficult time finding pistons. Has anyone ever tried this? The closest piston I could find was still .020" out of the hole. I would be using a .048" head gasket, but that is not enough room. What should I do?
EDIT: I was wanting to use forged pistons but when I looked at hyper-explosives, I couldn't find anything there. Speed Pro used to make the exact pistons that I needed, but they won't even make them for me. I am looking at flat top 2 valve reliefs.

I've heard some crummy stuff about them from a lot of people. I don't know. I was hoping for wiseco, trw, speed pro, anything like that.

I wouldn't say anything crummy about the Diamonds. What did you hear?

I live in a "country" town if you will. Dirt track racing is the thing around here. I have talked to several of them and they have had a lot of those pistons come apart on them. They told me why they fall apart for them but I forgot why. I find out again tonight.

Most of your dirt trackers like to use lightweight stuff. The Diamond pistons are good pistons but no.. they wouldn't be my first choice for a dirt track motor. Just a case of using the wrong piston in a motor in my opinion.
There are alot of guys around here running and saying good things about Diamond's stuff. I'm old, stubborn and generally just like to stick with the brands I've had good luck with but they are really well priced and that's always a big plus.

But I constantly abuse my car. Everyone seems to think I would be a good dirt track racer because of how I drive. That is why I don't want pistons that they say come apart. I don't care about rebuilding every say 20k miles but I think with those pistons I might get 10 nights out of them. ;)

I did a little research and ordered a set of Diamond pistons from my 396 build up...this is the first time I've heard anything negative about them.
