64psi fuel pressure after dual pump install...do I need an adjustable regulator?

I installed the dual walbro fuel pump set up and test drove the car this weekend. I am running the factory fuel pressure regulator. The pressure stays constant at about 64psi...I assumed the regulator would keep it at 43.5psi as it was before. Should I have expected this increase since there is more volume flowing through a fixed regulator?
I'm looking at adjustable regulators and the price range is pretty broad. I would like a regulator which allows me clearance to have my gauge hooked into the schrader valve.

mkent,

I know some people on here run two pumps (in parallel) 100% of the time - but I can't speak as to any FP related issues. I just wanted to ask why you don't run a primary pump and turn the second one under boosted via a pressure referenced switch?

I fixed the problem. I was only testing the pumps when I got the high pressure reading. I tested them before I hooked up the hobbs switch, and therefore both pumps were running at the same time. Now that the Hobbs switch is hooked up, the pressure holds steady at 43.5 psi.

The bad news is, I gave it another 5 degrees of timing advance up to 27 since i'm only on 4psi while I work out all the bugs and I busted the ring gear in my 10 bolt!...with street tires!

yikes! Do you think you'll go 12-bolt, 9" or other?
