Conventional Billet distributor install in LT1

We put a complete XFI FAST system on my race car- XFI computer, MSD 6AL2, big coil and dual synch distributor for the cam and crank signals and spark distribution.

Welded up the timing cover and punched a hole in the back of the intake to accept the conventional style distributor. This set-up has worked great so far.

Question- How critical is it for there to be o-rings on the distributor shaft to seal the oil passages? Had the distributor out to check the drive gear and my machinist was horrified to see that there were no o-rings on the shaft. The FAST distributor did not have them when it shipped nor does it call anything out in the instructions about this, we tried to put them on and it won't seat into the hole as the block is not chamfered like other small blocks are. Machinist thinks the pass side lifters will not be getting full oil pressure due to major leakage/blow by without the seals. Oil pressure has not been an issue at all for this car, it has a high pressure/high volume pump.

How critical is this seal? I don't think the stock oil pump drive gear had seals, this seems like it's a pretty tight fit and fairly certain I won't be getting o-rings in there without a sledgehammer and major risk to damaging the o-rings upon install.

Anyone have any experience with this?

Thx!

Id find a new machinist, they don't have o-rings. They fit tight enough for proper oiling.
