Will a 99-02 center console fit in a 96 (all TAs)? Is it as noisy as a 96 console?

Will a 99-02 center console fit in a 96 (all TAs)? Is it as noisy as a 96 console?

Hello,

I am trying to get rid of some creaks and moans from my car (96 T/A). Will a 99-02 console fit in a 96? Does anyone with a 99-02 know if they creak every time you touch them like a 96 console does? -It looks like a better design as far as noise abatement goes. . . plus the extra cupholds wouldn't hurt. . . .

Thanks,
-Justin

Why not just get a 97 console. 97 through 02 all look the same. I don't remember mine creaking.

I have one from a 00, I really never paid attention to how much noise it makes or didn't make. Direct bolt in, the newer style console has a plastic nipple that wont let it sit flush, dont cut it off. I did and it caused the console to sit on top of some cables that let you take the key out when the cars in park. Ended up having to use some washers on one of the bolts.

Did they change the color between 97 and 02, or just the description? (Ebony vs. graphite vs. charcoal).

Chevyssoccer,
What condition is it in? Any scratches, marks, etc? I'd be interested in some pics.

Thanks,
-Justin

I think they changed the color since 00-02 are ebony and I think 98-99 are charcoal I believe.

Ill take some pic tonight. I swapped to a 6 speed and have my old shift plate and the lower from the 6 speed car left. The lowers are the same, I just didnt bother to use that one. They did change the color like rbaksi said.
