TH400 for my LT1

Looking to go TH400 full manual valve body. Will any anyone fit, or do I have to look for a specific one?

What tranny are you starting with? If you have an M6, you can modify the stock M6 cross-member to mount the TH400 with a short tailshaft. I run a JW Ultra Bell, so I don't know if there are stock TH400 cases that will bolt directly to the LT1, but I suspect they do.

Hopefully, you like to hear the engine rev, because without O/D its going to be a bear on the street.

how do you like your th400? The car is an M6 will be a weekend cruiser with an occasional drive to the track. I'll be running a high gear 3.00 or something close to it.

The TH400 with manual valve body is just what my car needed. I hated 5-6000rpm clutch dumps with the M6, and I couldn't shift it accurately at all. It became a major mental stumbling block.

The manual valve body eliminates engine braking when coasting, so its sort of wierd, particularly to someone that has driven manual trannies forever, and enjoyed downshifting on coast down. But the shifts are neck-snapping, and instantaneous. With 4.11's I was running close to 4000rpm at 70mph with street tires (25.7" street tires vs. 28" slicks). Hence, the Gear Vendors O/D to pull the rpm down closer to 3000. If you're running something closer to 3.0 it will be a lot more enjoyable.

My wife thinks I'm nuts, installing an auto trans and then having to shift if manually..... I have a B&M Pro-Ratchet shifter, and it fits fine under the M6 console.
