Cold Start Injecter"FYI"

My sons 85 2.8 recently encountered a problem of the cold start injecter leaking..or not shutting off after start..This caused terrible idling and plug fouling..I tried like heck to find a new part..Apparently they dont make en any more. So , I took a chance and capped it off..leaving the wiring hooked up..guess what..It starts fine...it was 23 degrees thismorning and he started it right up and drove to school.. I guess well see hoe it does in sub 0 weather bit i dont forsee any problems.. Beats the heck out of totaly trashing the engine for a $60 part..Any way..I hope this helps someone..I know i wish id known this sooner..car was out of commision for a month...

I'll be honest, this might be a stretch, but...I guess it'd be worth a try:

1. Look into finding the part# for the cold start injector for the TBI 305s and some of the earliest TPI cars. It might be a replacement that's not listed as a replacement part for the 2.8MPFI engine.

2. www.thirdgen.org - I'm sure at least ONE of those guys HAS to know something out of experience that'll get you pointed in the right direction as far as this CSI is concerned.

Good luck. If/when you find out the answer, please let us know so I can archive the information on here, FirebirdV6.com, or in my personal information...
