There's a CARB (California Air Resources Board) website that lists approved aftermarket performance parts. Not sure how up-to-date it is, and its pretty hard to sort through the listings, but it might help.

mac mids, rk sport mids, pacesetter mids, slp shorty, bbk shorty, edlbrk shorty. and prob. more
2. should i get long tubes mid shorty???
not sure if the ls is different but i know with my lt1 mids is the biggest i can go and stay legal because longtubes move the stock placement of the cat.
3. what would be the best one for my car
BEST is long tubes, Best legal choice is mids, i dont have any but read nothing but good news on mac mids.

You cant get longtubes because it moves the cats from their stock position. If your smog shop checks for this, you wont be able to pass emmisions. So unless you find a shop that will do it, you need to stick with mids. Shortys wont do much for you, and IMO aren't worth the money.

I get tired of people going around saying shorties dont do anything!

Have you ever compared the two? Shorties do not flow as good as longtubes or mid's but THEY do flow much better than the stock manifolds. And i consider them to be a great upgrade for someone looking to stay 100% smog legal.

They might give you around 5-10 HP, but for the money they are not worth it IMO. But to each their own. If you want to squeeze every ounce of power out of your car and stay legal in CA, go for it. FWIW, I know a smog shop that will overlook LT's as long as you have cats. Try and find one of those.

I never said they dont do anything. I simply said they're not worth what you pay for them. Take that money and get a better upgrade.

You do realize that everyone else is talking about the LS1 engines.... except you. What works on an LT1 does not necessarilly work best on an LS1. The LS1 stock manifolds were better than the stock LT1 manifolds.
