New 3000 rpm stall. Now car feels like a Dog!!

Hey guys,

I recently ordered a performabuilt stage 2 4l60e for my 95 formula lt1 with a performabuilt 3k stall converter. I just put the trans in saturday and I must say the trans shifts and feels great. Im not to sure about this stall converter Idea though... Before this stall I had a factory diameter restalled converter that I know was a piece, but its part throttle manners seemed much more respectable than what I have now. The rear end has 3.23's in it which a many people on this board seem to agree isnt optimal but still more than ok for daily driving. I havent been able to go WOT yet due to break in procedure on the trans but it just seems like it takes a lot more to get the car to speed than before. Now my question is. Will what I lost in driveablility around town be worth the gain I will feel/see The first time I get to go WOT?? Is 3k too much for a full bolt on car with 3.23's? Would switching to 3.42's or 3.73's make a big difference in the part throttle drivability of the car. I guess it just makes me wonder If I made a mistake in going with this big of a stall?? The car really does feel way less powerful than before @ part throttle...

Thanks,
Heath

it is going to feel more "loose" or sluggish driving around town with a higher stall then stock. thats just the nature of a small diameter high stall. it only takes a few days to get used to driving and before you know it it will feel normal. you get used to it, trust me. Once you start driving a stalled auto and you go back to driving another car with a stock trans/converter it will feel wierd.

hit the gas pedal and it will put a smile on your face

Once you get to nail it as mentioned you will have a smile. It will take a little getting used to however.

Frank has killer customer service and shipping was ultra fast by the way. Everything came as described and the packaging was brilliant. Have a couple questions for ya frank. I know that the trans being brand new I should change the fluid after a certain amt. of miles? How many? Also, should I drop the pan and change the filter as well? Any other things I should be aware of?? Thanks

Also does the stall put more stress on the motor due to the consistently higher rpms the car is seeing now? Would some 3.73's offset this? Im reluctant to change gears as I know how weak the factory rear is. But i do not want to overstress the motor and possibly damage. Would rather pay for a 12 bolt than a new motor build..
