Why are the fog lights on the LS1 cars so dim?

Just wondering why they are so dim compared to the LT1 cars?

I just traded my 1995 TA in on a 2002 WS6 and it seems as if the fog lights are almost only for show. I could drive at night with the fogs on my LT1, but these barely shine out 6 feet?

Just wondering.

They are only 37.5 watt units. They are a projector beam design which is much more directed than the LT1 foglights. Could be an aiming issue.

I know the units on the Camaro are projector beam, but the ones on the TA seem to be the same as on my old car.

?

I have the same thing with my fog lights. They don't seem to do a damn bit of good. They have been that way since day one. I was thinking about replacing them with a more intense driving light later. I wonder if there are replacement bulbs to get to make the stock ones more powerful. That would be nice.

Be careful about replacing the bulbs with higher wattage, the lenses on the fogs are plastic, and can melt with higher wattage bulbs

they are dim as shyt. There really isn't an after market replacement for the bulb, I went ahead, and replaced the whole units because # they are plastic and would melt, and #2 I bought some replacement fogs which house h4 bulbs instead. brite as hell now, i drive without my headlights on, and in the near future i will be able to pull the HID conversion on it.

I bought a set of aftermarket ones from a ricer shop I felt outnumbered in there, anyhow they were like $25 and they look real cool now.
My friend got ones with a little higher wattage, and they melted the housing, so make sure you go conservative

What brand / model are you all using for the aftermarket ones? I would like some, but not investing in the GM ones.....
